An Owl
 Sacred bird monument
gMinervah, the goddess of wisdom

Owls were held in great esteem
by the ancient Greeks as symbols of Athena, the goddess of knowledge and wisdom.

Even today the image of an owl wearing glasses and reading a book is popular among scholars.
A quiet thoughtful creature living deep in the woods, the owl was considered a suitable monument for the library.

(The monument was sculptured by Mr.Kunihiko Isshiki. )
